At Black Lion Workshops, each lamp is individually designed and meticulously hand-painted with care, with every step of production taking place in the United Kingdom. Commissioning a lamp is a special experience, and our aim is to make the journey as smooth and enjoyable as the finished piece. To ensure this, we’ve set out these Terms as a clear guide to how we work and what you can expect.

Orders & Payment

·All prices are in Pound Sterling (£GBP) and don’t include delivery unless stated.

·Payment is due when you place your order. We’ll only begin once the invoice has been paid in full.

·Written quotes stay valid for 30 days.

·Any bank or transfer fees are the responsibility of the customer.

·We reserve the right to change prices at any time, but any change will only apply to new orders placed after the change. Orders that have already been confirmed or paid for will not be affected.

·Written quotes remain valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

·Customers are responsible for any additional shipping duties, taxes, or import fees on international orders.

·By placing an order, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

Our Lamps

·As is the nature of all things hand-made, please note that no two lamps will ever be exactly the same. Variations in size, shade, or finish are appreciated as part of their charm and what makes them beautiful, not defects.

·All lamps are sold without shades by default (aside from the Cherri Lamp). If you would like to commission a custom shade, whether it is the one pictured with a lamp or a hand-painted design, please ask and we will discuss design, lead time, and pricing.

·Photos on the website are for guidance - props aren’t included unless clearly stated.

·We do our best to describe everything accurately, but handmade items naturally have small differences.

Delivery

·Lead times vary depending on workload and the complexity of your piece. We’ll always give you an estimate when you order.

·Delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees. Once your lamp is on its way, you’ll be notified.

·Risk passes to you once the courier has delivered to your provided address.

Returns

·For standard designs, you have 7 days from receiving your lamp to return it for a refund or exchange. Items must be in original condition and packaging (or well packed). You’ll cover return postage (signed for and tracked), and the original delivery cost isn’t refunded.

·Please email freya@blacklionworkshops.com to process your return.

·If items are returned damaged due to poor packaging, we may reduce or decline the refund.

·Custom or bespoke pieces cannot be returned as they’re made just for you, unless they arrive faulty. (This does not affect your statutory rights.)

·Refunds are made back to your original payment method, usually within 3–5 working days after we’ve received the lamp.

Custom Commissions

·Recolouring starts at £250 per lamp for two bespoke colour options. Extra colour palettes thereafter are £200 each.

·New designs start from £1,500, depending on complexity.

·We do not provide physical samples, but we use trusted paint brands and can share colour charts. If you’re in London, we can also meet in person.

·Photos of your space are always helpful for us to tailor the design.

·Bespoke pieces usually take 12–16 weeks, sometimes longer for large lamps.

·All lamp designs, whether standard or bespoke, are the intellectual property of Black Lion Workshops. Commissioning a lamp does not transfer ownership of the design to you. You may use your lamp for personal enjoyment, but reproducing, copying, or commercially using any design without our written permission is prohibited.

Our Responsibility

·We take care to deliver quality every time. If something isn’t right, please let us know within 7 days of delivery so we can put it right.

·All lamps are rewired by a certified electrician in London before leaving our studio, so they are professionally checked and safe.

·Lamps are supplied with standard British fittings - Bayonet cap (B22) bulb holders. US fittings are available on request for an extra fee. Please ensure the bulbs you use are compatible and suitable for your local electrical standards. We cannot accept responsibility for damage or injury caused by misuse, incorrect installation, or unauthorized changes.

·Our liability is limited to the price you paid for the lamp. We are not responsible for indirect or knock-on losses (like lost profits or delays).

Things Outside Our Control

Sometimes events like courier delays, supply shortages, strikes, or global issues (pandemics, etc.) may affect delivery times. We’ll always do our best to keep you informed, but we cannot be held responsible for things beyond our control.

Your Privacy

We respect your privacy and handle your personal data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Your details are only used to fulfil your order and won’t be shared except as needed for payment, delivery, or legal purposes.

If you have signed up to our mailing list or are a previous client, we may use your email address to send you updates, offers, and marketing communications about Black Lion Workshops.

2. We will never share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Legal Bits

·These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of England & Wales.

·This agreement is between you and us only - no one else has rights under it.

Please note that all designs and images on the Black Lion Workshops Website are covered by a disclaimer and protected by copyright laws.
